About Illuminatrix

Illuminatrix was founded by Katharina Kienböck and Jason Gardner, bringing together their passions and talents to create beauty and inspiration through photography and art.  They provide three unique kinds of services:

• Wedding Photography: a photojournalistic approach to document your most significant day!
• Moving Mementos: A carefully arranged digital slide show of your most moving pictures on a big projection screen, for the enhancement of a party, wedding or business event.
• Multimedia Production:  Video projection and lighting to enhance the backdrop for bands, music, weddings.  Projection of movies, indoors or outdoors.

Katharina Kienböck - Photographer

Katharina has an extensive passion for photography that she has fostered since she got her first camera from her grandfather when she was 13. Her introduction to wedding photography happened when friends asked her to shoot their weddings for them.

For the past ten years, she has worked as a therapist and teacher and has photographed on the side, travelling internationally, and setting up her life in Upstate New York. It became a natural extension of her interest in the clarity and beauty of human connections to further her interest in wedding photography. At this point in her life, she is delighted to share her artistic talent and services with her clients, continuing to work and connect with people through the lens of the camera.

Jason Gardner - Multi-media Producer

Jason is a multi-talented person from mechanical to artistic endeavors. He has a keen sense of taking in the environment and creating solutions for it. He enjoys building custom cars and bicycles, as much as he enjoys making custom lights.

He has pioneered early video mixing for DJ Dance parties from the 90s, worked for film festivals, providing Visuals for Crystal Method, Shpongle, Younger Brother, Cirque de Soleil, Harley Davidson, and many other acts that he loves to support and work with.

My favorite images come from capturing the richness of a moment….. a smile, an embrace, a toast, or a wedding guest moved to tears… I will also document the thoughtfulness that went into your event, catching impressions such as flower arrangements, the colorfulness of the cuisine being offered, or the details of the table decorations.

What are Moving Mementos?

Through a carefully digitally arranged slideshow, guests may, for the first time, see the bride as a newly born, laugh out loud at the picture of the groom in his favorite Halloween costume, or be moved by the snapshot of the late great-grandfather on the bride’s side!

Moving Mementos provides an opportunity to bring moving moments of your life to your celebration, creating warm smiles, laughter, and a shared sense of community!

We offer several packages, based on your needs and on your event.  Here are some of the things we include in our packages:

• A beautiful digitally arranged slide show of up to 100 photos.  We will be able to use print or digital pictures.
• The use of our large screen and a high definition projector, including set up and operation on the day of your event.
• We offer up to 2 meetings before the event  to discuss the pictures you would like to choose, to learn more about your event, and to preview the show with you before the event.

After the event, we have two gifts for you:

• Your own copy of your Moving Mementos show on a DVD so  you can present it at other gatherings
• A beautifully printed leather bound album of your historical pictures:  a rare opportunity to capture these amazing images in one set!

Multi-Media Production

INSTALLATIONS OF LIGHT AND SOUND

We provide multimedia for a diversity of events:  weddings, openings, birthdays, concerts, shows, events in general. 

Video Mixing:  A fantastic visual voyage enhancing the sensual experience of your audience, by digitally mixing images from film, slides, videos, plug ins, animation, and often multiple live recordings synchronized with music.  We are continuously looking for original ways to create lighting and visual impressions, whether it may include using mirrors, exceptional fabric, or multiple cameras to bring to you a distinctively unusual visual experience.

 

Lighting:  A keen sense of what’s right allows us to help you bring fun, playfulness and beauty to your event.  Jason provides a wide range of lights, depending on the needs of the event, such as Intelligent lights, floods, washes, spots, and rope lights.  Jason also will custom build lights depending on your needs.

We believe that the negatives to your wedding photos should belong to you, the wedding couple. Hence, each package includes the digital negatives, which means a significant amount of saved money, as you will be able to re-order or print any pictures, whenever needed at your own convenience!

In addition, we will craft an exquisite wedding album for you, an intimate memory of your journey on that day. You will be able to choose the photos included in your wedding album, and it can be ready as soon as 6 weeks from the date of your wedding.

Albums

If you have photos that you have never gotten around to make an album for, from a special occasion or a vacation, we are happy to create a photo book for you. Our albums are all beautifully crafted and printed like a book. They can be leather or suede bound, and form a gorgeous backdrop for long lasting memories. Prices are for albums based on working off digital negatives (CD or DVD). If photos are paper based and need to be scanned into the computer, prices are provided in parenthesis.

Katharina's photos were very artistic and captured the feelings and fun that were experienced at our wedding.
